Corporate gifting. Or more commonly known within the events industry as ‘SWAG’ is one of the things that pop up during event planning.

Employees and attendees, more often than not, anticipate receiving a little freebie whenever they attend an event. The problem with the current freebies and swag is that they’re often not that useful or sustainable.

Here at Legacy, we want to help you think of alternative items that will have more of an impact on your audience and be more sustainable.

There is also a downloadable checklist available at the end of the post, which you can use whenever you’re choosing for your gifting.

What else can you give?

Reusable Cutlery Sets

Why not give your attendees reusable cutlery sets as part of their overall goodie bags, or just on their own.

There are many reusable cutlery set options available out there from ones made out of bamboo to metal.

Not only will this encourage people to reduce the amount of waste they will produce whenever they buy food out, for example during lunchtime. Most of the time, they will get plastic cutlery and just throw it away after their meal.

It is also helpful to have as it can be carried anywhere from picnics to events. Instead of using plastic cutlery, they can just use their reusable cutlery.

Reusable Water Bottles

One thing that you can do is to encourage your attendees to use reusable water bottles, but another way is to provide them with a reusable bottle for them to use and keep.

The beauty of offering something like this is that you will already be providing your attendees the bottle during the event and you will only have to point them towards the refill stations around your venue.

You can do this for tumblers too or coffee cups. They have a lot of options available out there from the usual ones made out of metal to ceramic tumblers

Sustainable Bamboo Cutting Boards

Hear us out. There is more to corporate gifting than your typical bottles and notepads.

Why don’t you consider giving your clients or employees cutting boards?

It ticks the majority of the boxes on our checklist. It’s useful, practical and it’s also made out of sustainable materials!

Your clients and employees will not only be thankful but pleased.

When choosing gift items, the most important thing that we have to aim for is to choose items that are made of renewable materials.

You should make sure that you look at the materials used to create that product and understand that when it was made it will not deplete the resources that cannot easily be replaced.

We have curated a checklist of questions that you should think of when you’re thinking about the type of gift items and SWAG you will be handing out.

  • Is there an eco-friendly option for the gift item?
  • What material/s is this product made out of?
  • If not reusable, can it be recycled?
  • Is this product useful or practical?
  • Will the people who this product is given make use of this product?
  • What sort of packaging will the product be in?
  • Does this product reflect our company values towards sustainability?
  • Does this item get rid of the use of single-use plastics?

Our Legacy Marketplace will have a number of different sustainable suppliers which offer a range of different products that you can choose from for gifting. Sign up here to be kept up to date with when the site goes live:
